Excessive Sweating Problem

Underarm Sweating

When we are doing sports, in hot environments, when we are stress, nervous, excited or anxious, our body reacts by sweating. Especially sweating in the armpit area causes a bad odor and appearance.

This level of sweating is considered normal. The image it causes bothers people. Smell is a more troubling situation.

The fluids secreted by the sweat glands are generally odorless. But there are parts of the skin that remain in a closed area.

At the same time, there are points where the skin touches each other. At these points, bacteria reproduce very quickly. It is these bacteria that cause odor.

Types

Hyperhidrosis is the name given to excessive sweating.

Anhidrosis is a problem of little or no sweating.

These two events can be a symptom of more serious illnesses.

Sweat Glands

Sweat allows the person to maintain body temperature and moisturize your skin. Thus, it provides balancing of body fluids and electrolytes composed of body chemicals such as calcium and sodium.

There are two types of glands on our skin.

  • Eccrine Glands

The number of eccrine glands is greater in the body. It is closer to the upper surface of the skin.

  • Apocrine Glands

These glands are found in the scalp, armpits, groin and areas where open hair follicles are more common.

When the body temperature rises, it stimulates the eccrine sweat glands directed by the autonomic nervous system and activates the secretion of fluid in the upper surface of the skin.

This liquid, called sweating, consists of water and salt. It balances the fluids in the body together with the urea substances.

Apart from this, apocrine sweat glands directly secrete more oily sweat. When this oily sweat comes into contact with oxygen, it causes odor.
