Hand Syndromes and Surgical Treatments<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

Wrist tunnel (carpal tunnel) and elbow tunnel (cubital tunnel) syndromes that occur when the nerves going to the hand are under pressure and cause pain and numbness, de Quervain syndrome<\/a> that causes pain in the wrist, cysts called ganglion in the hand and wrist, locking fingers (trigger finger), Dupuytren contractures that cause thick bands on the hands and fingers, congenital finger structure disorders, traumatic and burns-related defects, soft tissue injuries such as tendon-nerve-muscle, fractures and dislocations, full cuts of the fingers (amputations), bone and soft tissue tumors etc. Diseases such as are included in the treatment field of plastic and reconstructive surgery.<\/p>\n

Carpal tunnel syndrome<\/span><\/a> <\/strong><\/h3>\n

causes pain and numbness in the hands and fingers. Complaints are usually more pronounced during sleep.<\/p>\n

This condition, which occurs as a result of the median nerve going to the hand under pressure while passing through the wrist, is first treated with non-surgical methods such as the use of a wrist splint.<\/p>\n

In cases that do not respond to this treatment, the pressure on the nerve can be removed with a small incision on the wrist.<\/p>\n

Cubital tunnel<\/span> syndrome<\/a> <\/strong><\/h3>\n

is caused by problems such as pain, swelling, numbness and loss of strength as a result of the compression of the ulnar nerve, one of the three main nerves of the hand, by compression or pressure.<\/p>\n

The nerve passes between the two bony protrusions in our elbow and sails between the two starting points of the muscle that flexes our wrist (flexor carpi ulnaris). Since the nerve is very superficial in this region, it is open to compression and trauma.<\/p>\n

De Quervain’s syndrome<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

occurs when tendons going to the thumb remain under pressure at the wrist level. It causes pain that increases with thumb movements outside the wrist. This condition is first treated with the use of splints and steroid injections. In cases that do not respond to this treatment, the pressure on the tendons is removed with a small incision made on the outer surface of the wrist.<\/p>\n

Trigger Finger\u00a0<\/span> <\/strong><\/h3>\n

It is also known as stenosis tenosynovitis in medical language. It is a tendon disorder that triggers bridges that they pass under certain points by bending the fingers.<\/p>\n

Hand Syndromes and Surgical Treatments<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Technically, hand surgery operations are procedures that usually take 1-2 hours. They are performed under the action of general anesthesia or intravenous sedative medication.<\/p>\n

It is not necessary to stay in the hospital. It may be necessary to use a dressing, semi-plaster or cast for 1-4 weeks after the operation.<\/p>\n
